Phoebe was a fantastic tutor for my 8 year old son.

After lockdown, we noticed some gaps in our twin girls’ learning, especially in maths and we were worried that they would lapse behind as the curriculum moves so fast.

I bumped into Katherine at a friend’s house as she was tutoring her daughter and I instantly liked her demeanour.

Katherine has been tutoring our nine year old girls for 8 months now and they absolutely love her. She has a wonderful attitude towards teaching and completely engages both the girls for a solid hour. Our son (Year 1) was having difficulty with maths, number concepts and understanding. Since Katherine has been working with him, the marked improvement in both his confidence, knowledge, progress and focus in Maths and also English, is fantastic to see. Our son is an energetic 6 year old and Katherine’s smooth and engaging teaching style has worked really well with him and helped him focus during lessons. Katherine has been tutoring our 7 year old son since this summer and it is always a delight to see her. She has mastered the perfect balance between being kind, encouraging, patient and yet having a no nonsense approach, which helps our son stay focused and engaged. A fine skill I wish I had! She is always well prepared and structured in her lessons and if not working towards homework goals, spelling tests or other set projects, she will set up each lesson targeting areas which need improving as well as challenge our son to reach that little further. Katherine works with confidence, is fully competent with the National Curriculum and expectations thereof, and is clearly comfortable managing an energetic boy over Zoom with no aid from parents. I contacted Katherine right at the beginning of this academic year as she came highly recommended by a close friend. My 5 year old son was struggling with confidence after the lockdowns and we needed more support. Katherine was the perfect person for him. She is loving, super warm as soon as you meet her and she is an amazing teacher, well organised and plans each lesson carefully in advance. She is great at keeping him focused and engaged in a way he enjoys. The feeling I got straight after the first session is that she cares deeply for the children she tutors and for us as parents, that means everything.
