Vision Statement

Primary Maths and English Tuition in Surrey and South West London

The Surrey Tutor Group aims to inspire, educate and transform children’s minds by broadening their visions.  With Qualified Teacher Status and a wealth of experience teaching in primary schools as well as one to one tuition, your child is guaranteed a quality learning experience where every lesson counts.

The Surrey Tutor Group has a vision where we want as many children as possible to flourish academically and socially through excellent and innovative education in order to help create a positive difference in their lives and to develop a life-long love of learning.

Our Philosophy

  • Courage

Courage is having the mental or moral strength to venture, persevere and tackle challenges in academia and in life. It’s having the confidence to face a subject that feels daunting and to not give up. Academic courage empowers students to choose difficult problems and to risk making mistakes.

The Surrey Tutor creates a supportive, nurturing environment where pupils feel safe to ask questions and rise to academic challenges.

  • Compassion

Compassion is feeling empathy for others and responding with kindness. Treating yourself with compassion builds self-esteem, motivation and confidence. Showing empathy towards others is an important communication skill. We welcome pupils and teachers from diverse backgrounds.

In lessons, there is a focus on compassion and positive affirmations to nurture our student’s self-belief.

  • Self-Reflection

Self-Reflection practise leads to greater achievement. It enables pupils to identify strengths, weaknesses and evaluate their progress towards their goals. Without it, we miss learning opportunities.

Teaching the art of self-reflection is integral to lessons.  The Surrey Tutor provides detailed feedback after every lesson and can also produce written reports if requested.  Together, self-reflection and teacher feedback leads to deeper learning.

  • Growth Mindset

Adopting a growth mindset promotes the concept that learning is not a fixed behaviour. It is a belief that our failures and mistakes are necessary in the learning journey to help us grow into better, more successful and confident people.

A growth mindset leads to a desire to learn, to embrace challenges, persist in the face of setbacks and see effort as the path to mastery. Cultivating a growth mindset is at the heart of what we do.
