The Surrey Tutor provides tuition in English and Maths ranging from ages 3-11.  An initial assessment will be carried out, this can be in person or via a video consultation.  The Surrey Tutor believes every child is unique and should be taught in ways that are unique to them and their learning styles. This is why we devise a specially tailored programme of study for your child after we assess them. Every child should be given the opportunity and tools to excel.

Early Years

The Surrey Tutor has taught in Early Years for several years and passionate about this age group.  Do you want your child to start school as a high achiever and feel confident in their new school setting? We offer private at home tutoring for 3-year-olds, 4-year-olds, and 5-year-olds, so they can get a head start on their peers and reach their full potential in these critical years.

Group Tuition

Some students learn better in a group environment, while others excel in private one on one tutoring. The Surrey Tutor believes every child deserves teaching that best fits them and their learning styles. Therefore, we provide group tuition courses for children that benefit more from learning alongside their peers.

Parents can rest assured knowing that their children will not be losing any one-on-one contact time during group tuition sessions. Our group size ranges from small group tuition to larger groups of students. Whatever environment your child feels more comfortable in is an environment we can provide. We offer face to face or in person group tuition courses.

Avoid Summer Learning Loss

According to research, students lose on average two months’ worth of maths learning and one months’ worth of spelling skills during the summer holidays. This means that teachers spend four to six weeks reteaching forgotten material upon the start of the new school year.

However, with just a few hours of tuition per week, this trend can be reversed. Research has shown that children who had tutoring over the summer not only don’t lose knowledge but improve relative to their peers. As we mentioned above, it is key that children revise what they have learnt to retain the information and learn the content. The benefits of group tuition are clear, and we are ready to support your child through the summer to prepare them for the new school year.

Test Prep

The Surrey Tutor aim to support your family throughout this process by providing the very best 7 or 8 Plus tuition, whilst ensuring that our teaching is fun and engaging to get your child interested in learning.

Your child will be learning the test material and will be exposed to the style of questions that will appear in the 7 or 8 Plus exam. This ensures your child is comfortable on test day and will have no reason to panic.

The key to success with any examinations, including the 7 and 8 plus exams, is to prepare early. Preparing early ensures your child has the time needed to build their learning on any missing gaps, whilst also improving their exam confidence in both material and structure. We recommend starting up to 12 months before the 7 or 8 plus exams to give your child ample time to prepare to the best of their ability. By the time of the 7 or 8 plus examination, we want each child to be relaxed, confident and familiar with the exam so it just feels like another friendly tuition session.
